Abstract:Objective This study was designed to explore the correlation between heart rate variability ( HRV) and deceleration capacity (DC) in obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods One hundred and twenty-seven patients with OSAHS diagnosed by a whole night polysomnography(PSG) test were collected. It was necessary for all subjects to have a 24 hours Holter monitor.Time domain parameters of HRV,heart rate of 24 hours and DC were obtained by means of off-line through man-machine dialogue. The correlation between HRV and deceleration capacity were also studied. Results There were significantly positive correlations between DC and the time domain parameters of HRV (P <0.01).PNN50,triangle index,RMSSD and SDNN were strongly correlated with DC.SDANN and SDSD were weakly correlated with DC.Age and the average heart rate were negatively correlated with DC statistically. Conclusion There were positive correlations between DC and the time domain parameters of HRV in patients with OSAHS.DC can quantitatively assess the variation of the vagal tone.
