Effect of Wuling Powder and Buyang Huanwu Decoction on Cerebral Blood Flow in Patients with Traumatic Brain Edema

Abstract：Objective To observe the influence of Wuling power (WLP) and Buyang Huanwu decoction (BYD) on the cerebral blood flow and prognosis in patients with traumatic brain edema.Methods Forty patients with traumatic brain edema from September 2013 to September 2015 were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=20) treated with routine treatment,and treatment group (n=20) treated with WLP and BYD in the basis of routine treatment for 3 courses of treatment,10 days as a course of treatment.The mean velocity (Vm), and resistent index (RI) of anterior cerebral artery (ACA),middle cerebral artery (MCA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA),and karnofsky performance status (KPS) were observed.Results After treatment,the Vm of ACA,MCA and PCA in two groups was higher than that before treatment,which was higher in treatment group than that in control group (P<0.05).The RI of ACA,MCA and PCA in two groups was lower than that before treatment,which was lower in treatment group than that in control group (P<0.05).The KPS score in treatment group was better than that in control group (P<0.05).Conclusion WLP and BYD can significantly reduce the cerebral blood flow resistance and improve the brain blood supply,alleviate the damage of brain edema,and improve the prognosis in patients with traumatic brain edema.
