Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of abdominal acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training in patients after stroke with fatigue and explore its possible mechanism. Methods Seventy patients with post-stroke fatigue(PoSF) were randomly divided into the treatment and control groups according to random numbers generated by PEMS3.0.While the patients in the control group were given the basic treatments and conventional rehabilitation training, the patients in the treatment group were additionally given abdominal acupuncture. All patients were treated once a day for two weeks. The fatigue severity scale (FSS) and Multidimensional Fatigue Questionnaire (MFI-20) were conducted before and after the treatments. The contents of serum IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-6 in patients were also detected at baseline and after treatments. Results At baseline, there were no significant difference between two groups in the scores of FSS and MFI-20,and the contents of serum IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-6 (P>0.05).After 2-weeks treaments, there were significant difference between both groups in the scores of FSS and MFI-20,and the contents of serum IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-6(P<0.05).Conclusion Abdominal acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training can alleviate the fatigue in patients with PoSF,and the potential mechanism may be that abdominal acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training can reduce the concentration of serum proinflammatory cytokines.
