Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of modified Dinxian decoction (MDD) in the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) with wind and phlegm obstruction syndrome. Methods Forty patients with DRE and wind and phlegm obstruction syndrome were treated by MDD on the basis of the original antiepileptic drug (AEDs) for 2 courses (3 months for a course of treatment). The frequency of seizure, duration of attack, total, effective rate and adverse reactions were recorded before and after treatment. Results After treatment of 3 months and 6 months, the number of seizures, seizure duration decreased significantly compared with that before treatment of 3 months (P<0.05),which was lower after treatment of 6 months than that after treatment of 3 months (P<0.05).After treatment of 6 months, the seizure frequency and duration of attack were less than that treatment for 3 months. After treatment of 3 months and 6 months, the total efficiency were 27.0% and 54.1%,respectively,the difference was significant (P<0.05).The rate of adverse reactions after treatment were decreased compared with that before treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion MDD is effective and safe in patients with DRE and wind and phlegm obstruction syndrome, and the adverse reaction is less.
