Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of high, medium and low doses of Fujian tablets (FJT) on the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 in brain tissue in rats with experimental cerebral infarction, and explore its effect on astrocytes. Methods The middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model was prepared by Tamura method in the right proximal middle cerebral artery.Forty-five rats were divided into FJT group (high dose FJT group, middle dose FJT group and low dose FJT group), model group and sham operation group.Because of the different dosage of the Fujian tablet, the traditional Chinese medicine group was divided into the high dose group, middle dosegroup and low dose group, and the other two groups were given equal amount of distilled water.9 rats in each group. The MCAO rats in three groups were sacrificed at 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks. The expressions of MMP-9 and MMP-2 in brain tissue were detected by ELISA mothed. Results After 2 weeks and 4 weeks, There were significant differences in the expressions of MMP-9 and MMP-2 in brain tissue between FJT groups and model group (P<0.05).The expressions in middle dose FJT group were higher than that in high dose FJT group and low dose FJT group (P<0.05), especially at fourth weeks. Conclusion FJT can up-regulated the expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9,and inhibit the gliosis of astrocyte, promote the remodeling of neural function in in rats with experimental cerebral infarction.
