Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of Xingnaojing injection (XNJI) and Ginkgo biloba extract injection (GBEI) on the levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and serum cystatin C (Cys-c) in elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI).Methods One hundred and twenty-six elderly patients with ACI were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=63) treated with routine treatment, and treatment group (n=63) treated with routine treatment plus XNJI and GBEI.The clinical curative effect, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, cerebral hemodynamics, MMP-9, BNP and Cys-c levels were observed. Results The cure rate and total clinical effective rate were 36.5% and 92.1% in treatment group, which was significantly higher than that in control group (19.0%, 77.8%,P<0.05).After treatment of 1 weeks and 2 weeks, NIHSS scores and MMP-9, BNP levels decreased, which was lower than that in control group (P<0.05) , and gradually decreased. The levels of DVp increased, which was higher than that in control group (P<0.05) , and gradually increased. Conclusion XNJI and GBEI can decrease the level of inflammatory cytokines, improve cerebral hemodynamics in patients with ACI.
