Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationgship of red blood cell distribution width(RDW) and coronary artery bifurcation lesions and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels. Methods Three hundreds patients were diagnosed with coronary heart disease by coronary angiography.RDW and hs-CRP levels were determined. The coronary artery bifurcation lesion score, percentage of bifurcation lesion score, the number of bifurcation lesion were calculated.According to the level of RDW(mean 12.50%),three hundreds patients with coronary heart disease were divided into group A(RDW<12.5%,n=165) and group B (RDW≥12.5%,n=135).Results There was no significant differences in the number of patients in coronary bifurcation lesions(P>0.05).Coronary artery bifurcation lesion scores, percentage of bifurcation lesion scores, the number of bifurcation lesion and hs-CRP levels in group A were significantly lower than those in group B(P<0.05).RDW and coronary artery bifurcation lesion score, percentage of bifurcation lesion scores and hs-CRP levels showed a positive correlation (r=0.102,0.081,0.113,P<0.01).Conclusion RDW is related to the occurrence, the severity of coronary artery bifurcation lesions and the level of inflammatory markers. It can be used as an independent risk factor for coronary bifurcation lesions, and can also be used as a good indicator to detect the inflammatory response.
