The Changes of Heart Function and Microcirculation in Elderly Septic Patients with Acute Heart Failure

Abstract:Objective To investigate the heart function and sublingual microcirculation in elderly patients with sepsis. Methods Eighteen hospitalized elderly patients with sepsis complicated by heart failure and 42 sepsis patients without heart failurewere enrolled and divided into heart failure group and control group.Clinical indicators,Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score, heart functional index, sublingual microcirculation index were compared between two groups. Results Compared with control group, more obviously heart functional and microcirculational changes were found in heart failure group, and the microcirculation index was found to be associated with heart function. Conclusion Correlation was found between caridac function and microcirculation, body microcirculation can reflect cardiac function in elderly patients with sepsis. It is necessary to correct microcirculation when treating sepsis.
