The Influence of Buyang Huanwu Decoction on the Cerebrovascular Reserve Capacity in Patients with Symptomatic Intracranial Artery Stenosis

Abstract：Objective To observe the effects of Buyang Huanwu decoction (BHD) on cerebrovascular reserve (CVR) and neurological deficit in patients with symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis (sICAS).Methods Forty patients with sICAS were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=20) treated with routine treatment (enteric-coated aspirin tablets and simvastatin),and treatment group (n=20) treated with BHD.The change of CVR and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) scores were observed before and after treatment.Results After treatment,CVR and NIHSS scores was better in treatment group(P＜0.05).CVR was improved in control group (P＜0.05).After treatment,CVR and NIHSS scores in treatment group were better than that in control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion BHD can improve the CVR and neurological deficit in patients with sICAS.
