Clinical Effect of Atorvastatin and Ezetimibe in the Treatment of Coronary Heart Disease with Hyperlipidemia in Elderly Patients

Abstract：Objective To study the clinical effect of atorvastatin and ezetimibe(Zetia) in the treatment of coronary heart disease with hyperlipidemia in elderly patients.Methods Eighty elderly patients with coronary heart disease and hyperlipidemia from August 2012 to September 2014 in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups:control group(n=40) treated with routine treatment and atorvastatin,and treatment group (n=40) treated with routine treatment and atorvastatin plus ezetimibe.The level of blood lipid was compared between the two groups before and after treatment.The quality of life and 6-minute walking distance were compared.Total effective rate of coronary heart disease and the incidence of cardiovascular events in the two groups was compared in the two groups.Results Compared with before treatment,the level of total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides (TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were significantly lower in two groups,the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were significantly increased,which was more obviously in treatment group (P＜0.05).After treatment,the quality of life was significantly reduced,the 6 min walking distance was significantly higher in two groups,which improved significantly higher in treatment group than that in control group (P＜0.05).The total effective rate was 92.5% in treatment group,which was significantly higher than that in control group(75.0%,P＜0.05).The cardiovascular adverse events was infarction,ischemic stroke and cardiac death.The overall incidence of cardiovascular adverse events was 7.5% in treatment group,which was significantly lower than that in control group(27.5%,P＜0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin and ezetimibe can lower the level of blood lipid,improve the quality of life and 6 min walking distance,and decrease the incidence of cardiovascular adverse events in elderly patients with coronary heart disease and hyperlipidemia.
