Application of Acupuncture and Motor Imagery Therapy on Rehabilitation in Patients with Hemiplegia after Stroke

Abstract:Objective To explore the rehabilitation effects of acupuncture and motor imagery therapy in patients with hemiplegia after stroke.Methods Sixty patients with hemiplegia after stroke were randomly divided into two groups:control group(n=30) treated with routine treatment,acupuncture,rehabilitation,and treatment group(n=30) treated with routine treatment plus acupuncture,motor imagery therapy.The movement function,activities of daily living(ADL) and rehabilitation exercise compliance were observed.Results After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment,the scores of Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Assessment (FMA) and the Barthel index of ADL were improved in two groups(P<0.05),which was higher in treatment group than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture and motor imagery therapy can improve the patients' willing and effect of rehabilitation exercise,and activities of daily living capabilities in patients with hemiplegia after stroke.
