Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between the distribution of traditional Chines medicine (TCM)syndromes and the spasticity of ischemic stroke. Methods Eighty-two suitable patients who received morden or TCM rehabilitation were recruited from 5 research centres from Jun 2014 to Dec 2015. Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS)and TCM syndrome scores were recorded on the first and the 21st day after grouping and analyzed by frequency count, cluster analysis and correlation analysis. Results According to whether the spasticitic intensity was improved,82 eligible patients were separated effective group including 47 patients and ineffec-tive group including 35 patients. On the first day all the patients TCM syndromes were mainly phlegm syndrome, blood stasis syn-drome and heat syndrome. After rehabilitation, the main syndromes in effective group were qi deficiency syndrome and blood stasis syn-drome while the main syndrome in ineffective group were nearly the same as the first day. Furthermore, the most part was the group of un-matched any syndromes. There was significant negtivecorrelation between spastic intensity and heat syndrome scores (r=-0.295,P=0.007) at grouping time and marked positive correlation between spastic intensity and phlegm syndrome scores (r=0.448,P=0.007)in in-effective group. Conclusion Patients at early period of stroke had more serious excessive syndrome which would turn to qi deficien-cy and blood stasis syndrome after spasticity improved. If not improved, the disease would be more serious since there still excess pathogenic factors or toxic pathogenic factors.
