Clinical Observation on Shengjin Jianpi Capsule in the Treatment of Pre-diabetes

Abstract：Objective To observe the clinical effect of Shengjin Jianpi capsule (SJC)in the treatment of pre-diabetes with qi-yin de-ficiency syndrome. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with pre-diabetes were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=40)treated with Shenqi Jiangtang granules (SJG),and treatment group (n=80)treated with SJC in the basis of origi-nal diet therapy and exercise for 12 weeks. The TCM symptom scores were compared before and after the treatment. The levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG),postprandial two-hours blood glucose (2 h PBG),hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c),fasting plasma insulin (FPI)and body mass index (BMI)were detected before and after the treatment. Results The total effective rate was 83.75% in treatment group,which was significantly higher than that in control group(67.50%,P<0.05). After treatment,TCM symptom scores in treatment group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05). The levels of FBG,2 h PBG,HbA1c,FPI and BMI were lower than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion On the basis of maintaining the original diet and exercise therapy,SJC can improve the clinical symptoms,which is better than SJG in patients with pre-diabetes and qi-yin deficiency syndrome.
