The Influence of Jiawei Sanpian Decoction on Serum 5-HT and ET-1 Levels in Patients with Migraine

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of Jiawei Sanpian decoction(JSD)on serum serotonin(5-HT)and endothelin-1(ET-1) levels in patients with migraine. Methods One hundred patients with migraine were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=50)treated with flunarizine hydrochloride,and treatment group(n=50)treated with JSD for 4 weeks. The serum 5-HT and ET-1 levels were detected.The therapeutic efficacy was observed.Results After treatment,the serum 5-HT levels in treatment group were higher than that in control group(P<0.05). The serum ET-1 levels in treatment group were lower than that in control group(P<0.05). The total clinical effective rate in treatment group was higher than that in control group(P<0.05). Conclusion JSD is safe and effective in treating migraine.
