Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between angiotensinogen gene (AGT)M235T polymorphism and antihypertensive effects of valsartan. Methods One hundred and twenty elderly patients with mild and moderate hypertension were selected and trea-ted by valsartan for 2 weeks. The blood pressure was observed before and after treatment.AGT gene types were determined by gene chip technology and divided into MM,MT and TT genotype.Al patients were divided into groups A (MM genotype)and groups B (MT and TT genotype). Results The systolic blood pressure (SBP)and diastolic blood pressure (DBP)were significantly decreased (P<0.01).SBP and DBP in group B was significantly lower than that in group A (P<0.05).Multiple linear regression showed that AGT gene polymorphism was the main factors influencing the antihypertensive effect of valsartan. Conclusion Valsartan can decrease SBP and DBP in elderly patients with mild and moderate hypertension. And patients with MT + TT genotype is better.
