Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of compound Danshen dripping pil s (CDDP)and atorvastatin calcium on type 2 diabe-tes mel itus (T2DM)patients with carotid atherosclerosis(CAS).Methods Eighty patients with T2DM were randomly divided into two groups:control group treated with atorvastatin calcium, and treatment group treated with CDDP plus atorvastatin calcium.Al patients in two groups were treated by hypoglycemic drugs. Before and after the treatment, blood lipid was observed. The bilateral carotid intima media thickness (IMT),bilateral common carotid artery mean diameter (BCCAD),character of atherosclerotic plaque, and the arterial blood flow parameters of patients in the two groups were observed by color doppler ultrasound. Results After the treatment, the lev-els of triglycerides (TG),total cholesterol (TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL C)in treatment group were lower than that in control group(P<0.05).IMT and BCCAD significant decreased in treatment group, which were lower than that in control group (P<0.05).The detection rate of plaque, plaque type and and improvement of arterial blood flow parameters in treatment group were better than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion CDDP and atorvastatin calcium can significantly intervene in the carotid IMT and atheromatous plaques in patients with T2DM.
