Effect of Enalapril and Folate Tablet on Carotid Atherosclerotic Plaque in Patients with Htype Hypertension

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of enalapril and folate tablet on carotid atherosclerotic plaque(AP)in patients with H type hypertension.Methods Two hundreds and sixty six patients with H type hypertension and carotid AP were randomly divided into two groups:investigation group and control group.Investigation group received enalapril and folate tablet and aspirin enteric coated,while the control group received enalapril and aspirin enteric coated.The blood pressure,serum homocysteine(Hcy)level and the intima midia thickness(IMT)of carotid artery,the area of carotid AP,and the number of AP were measured before treatment, after 2 months and 10 months of treatment, respectively. Results Compared with the before treatment and control group,after 10 months of treatment,the blood pressure,Hcy,IMT of carotid artery,the area of carotid AP and the number of AP significantly reduced in the investigation group(P<0.05).But blood pressure,Hcy after 2 months of treatment were reduced compared with before treat-ment(P<0.05).Conclusion Enalapril and folate tablet can reduce serum Hcy andeffectively stabilis carotid AP in patients with H type hypertension.
