Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of radix astragali in the treatment of cerebral edema and intracranial hypertension post severe cerebral trauma, and discuss the possible treatment mechanism. Methods Selection of neurosurgery severe cranioce-rebral injury after operation with cerebral edema and intracranial hypertension patients as the study subject.Al the subjects were ran-domly divided into astragalus reatment group as observation group and the general treatment group as control group.Al patients with invasive intracranial pressure monitoring continuously,to observe the postoperative intracranial pressure fluctuations. Results The intracranial pressures of Two groups reached peak in 2 days to 3 days after trauma,Then decrease day by day.The intracranial pres-sures average of observation group were lower than those in the control group at al time points and the peak was ahead. In cases of the intracranial pressure increased significantly(ICP≥25 mmHg),the intracranial pressure of observation group has decreased obvi-ously within 1 h to 3 h after astragalus nasal feeding at a time, and that performanced on intracranial pressure monitoring curve which showed obvious frustration phenomena. Conclusion Astragalus can effectively al eviate cerebral edema post severe cerebral trau-ma,and reduce intracranial pressure, then reduce the secondary brain injury, and improve the prognosis.
