Effects of Tai Chi and Rehabilitation Training on Clinical Efficacy,Adverse Psychological and Quality of Life in the Elderly Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of Tai Chi and rehabilitation training on clinical efficacy,adverse psychological and quality of life(QOL) in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods One hundred and eight patients with CHD were randomly divided into two groups:The control group(n=54)treated with routine treatment,and the treatment group(n=54) treated with routine treatment plus Tai Chi and rehabilitation training.The attack of angina pectoris and clinical efficacy were ob-served.The psychological status and QOL were evaluated by self rating anxiety scale(SAS),self rating depression scale(SDS) and the Seattle angina questionnaire(SAQ).Results After six months of treatment,the amount of nitroglycerin and angina frequency were better than that in control group(P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate was 92.59% in treatment group,which was signifi-cantly higher than that in control group(72.22%,P<0.05).The scores of SAS and SDS were better than that in control group(P<0.05). The scores of SAQ were higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Tai Chi and rehabilitation training can improve the clinical efficacy,anxiety,depression and QOL in the elderly patients with CHD.
