Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between ankle brachial index(ABI)and serum bilirubin in healthy individuals. Methods Two hundreds and eighty one healthy individuals were enrol ed in the medical center of the Southern District of Guang’anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in July 2014.The medical history, height, weight, body mass index(BMI), blood pressure, blood routine and biochemical indicators were observed. The ankle brachial index(ABI)of the crowd was tested by Omron BP 203RPEⅢ Arteriosclerosis Arterial Elasticity Detector.According to ABI,the healthy individuals were divided into groupⅠ(n=60),group Ⅱ(n=72),group Ⅲ(n=149).The biochemical indices were compared between the three groups. Results There were statistical y significant differences in BMI,heart rate(HR),serum total bilirubin(TBIL),direct bilirubin(DBIL),indirect bilirubin (IBIL)between groupⅠ and groupⅡ or groupⅢ(P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed that BMI,DBP,TBIL,DBIL were positively correlated with ABI,and HR was negatively correlated with ABI.ABI grouping as the dependent variable,BMI HR,TBIL,DBIL Logistic regression analysis showed that HR,BMI,TBIL entered the final regression equation. The regression equation was:ABI= 1.152-0.002× HR+0.004× BMI+ 0.003× TBIL.Conclusion HR,BMI and TBIL are the risk factor of ABI.The elevated ABI is related to low levels of serum bilirubin. The serum bilirubin levels may predict early atherosclerosis.
