Influence of Eliminating Phlegm and Removing Blood stasis Therapy on Carotid Intima media Thickness and Brachial ankle Pulse Wave Velocity

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of eliminating phlegm and removing blood stasis therapy on carotid intima media thickness and brachial ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV).Methods Sixty patients with preclinical atherosclerosis were randomly divided into two groups:The control group(n=30)treated with placebo,and the treatment group(n=30)treated with eliminating phlegm and removing blood stasis therapy for one year.Results The carotid intima media thickness (IMT)were improved in treatment group,which was better than that in control group(P<0.01).The baPWV in treatment group were reduced,which was lower than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The eliminating phlegm and removing blood stasis therapy can improve the artery's structure and function in patients with PCA.It has notable curative effect on preclinical atherosclerosis.
