Influence of Guipi Decoction on Behavioristics in Rats with Postpartum Depression

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of Guipi decoction(GPD)on behavioristic in model rats with postpartum depression (PPD).Methods Fifty female Sprague Dawley (SD)rats were selected and randomly divided into blank group,sham operated group,model group,GPD group and fluoxetine group.At the time points of the end of 1st and 4th week,the behavioristics of the rats were observed,including sucrose consumption test,open field test (OFT)and forced swimming test (FST).The weight,sucrose con-sumption,horizontal scores of OFT,vertical scores of OFT,immobility time of FST,struggling time of FST and swimming time of FST were recorded and compared.Results The weight,sucrose consumption,horizontal scores of OFT,vertical scores of OFT ,the struggling time of FST in model group were lower than that in normal group(P<0.05 or P<0.01)while the immobility time of FST was longer than that in normal group (P<0.01).After 4 weeks,the weight,sucrose consumption,horizontal scores of OFT,vertical scores of OFT,struggling time of FST and swimming time of FST in GPD group were higher than that in model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01)while the immobility time of FST were lower than that in model group(P<0.01).Conclusion GPD can regulate the depressive behavior in model rats with PPD.
