Effects of Astragaloside Ⅳ on the Activity of MPO and the Content of TNF α,IL 1βafter Cerebral Ischemia and Reperfusion

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effects of astragaloside Ⅳ on the activity of myeloperoxidase(MPO)and content of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF α),interleukin 1 beta(IL 1β)after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.Methods Thirty six Sprague Dawley(SD)rats were randomly divided into sham operated group,model group,astragalosideⅣ group.The methods of pectropho-tometry and ELISA were respectively used to measure the activity of MPO and the content of TNF α,IL 1βin brains tissue.Results Compared with those in sham operated group,the activity of MPO and the content of TNF α,IL 1βincreased significantly in model group(P<0.01).Compared with those in model group,the activity of MPO and the content of TNF α,IL 1βdecreased sig-nificantly in astragaloside Ⅳ group (P<0.05).Conclusion Astragaloside Ⅳ can decrease the activity of MPO and the content of TNF α,IL 1βafter cerebral ischemia and reperfusion,and al eviate inflammation reaction which may be one of mechanisms of neu-roprotective effects of astragaloside Ⅳ on cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury.
