Relation between Insulin Resistance and TCM Syndrome Type in 2000 Hypertension Patients in Gansu Area
Abstract:Objection To study the clinical features and distribution status of insulin resistance and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome type in essential hypertension patients.Methods Age,sex,body height and weight,BP,insulin,medical history,and TCM symptoms were col ected.TCM syndromes were differentiated by the four diagnostics,Chinese medical director physicians and two TCM physicians.Results on thousand and thirty six patients were screened by insulin resistance,about 51.8%.There was no statistic differences between men group and women group (P>0.05).Non elderly patients group and elderly patients group had significant statistic differences (P<0.01).In four common TCM syndrome types,the distribution of insulin resistance was:Stagna-tion of phlegm dampness type (59.72%)>yin yang deficiency (54.03%)>yin deficiency yang hyperactivity type (51.40%)>yang hyperactivity type (48.73%).The stagnation of phlegm dampness type and yin deficiency yang hyperactivity type had statis-tic differences (P<0.01).The stagnation of phlegm dampness type and Yang hyperactivity type had statistics differences (P<0.01).Conclusion Over 50% hypertension patients in Gansu area have insulin resistance.The elderly patients are easy to have insulin resistance.The patients of stagnation of phlegm dampness type are more likely to have insulin resistance.
