Current Situation and Prospects on Acupuncture for Treatment of Hypertension
Abstract：We reviewed the recent literatures of the acupuncture treatment for hypertension in terms of the mechanism,effective-ness,acupoint selection,manipulation methods,timing of acupuncture,and the elderly acupuncture.The characteristics of the thera-peutic effect of acupuncture were highlighted.Acupuncture was regarded to have favorable short term antihypertensive effect,while the long term effectiveness was still unclear.Acupoint selection,manipulation methods,and acupuncture time were all important de-terminants for the clinical antihypertensive effects of acupuncture therapy.However,the acupoint selection and manipulation methods were complicated and the operation was not standardized in clinical researches.Therefore,it is difficult to make an obj ective appraisal of dose effect relationship of acupuncture in antihypertensive therapy.The standardization of the acupuncture research will become a trend in the future.
