Association of Genetic Polymorphism of Connexin 40 Gene with Essential Hypertension

Abstract：Objective To investigate the association between genetic polymorphism of connexin 40(Cx40)gene and essential hy-pertension(EH).Methods The genetic polymorphism,gene,and allele frequency distribution of Cx40 gene ( 44,+71)in 210 essen-tial hypertension patients and 158 normotensive were studied by PCR technology.Results There were visible difference between EH group and control group (P<0.05).There were obviously different type Cx40 gene 44 loci in all patients or males in EH group and controls (P<0.05).The result of +71 was just the opposite (P>0.05).The values of 44 AA genotype,triglyceride,Ca with the methods of logistic regression were 4.458,4.1330,0.195(P were 0.039,0.001,and 0.014).Conclusion There was a positive corre-lation between Cx40 gene 44 AA genotype and EH in male groups.The high triglyceride was the risk factor,and high Ca was a pro-tective factor.
