Effect of Yiqihuoxue Prescription on Expression of Proliferation Cell Nuclear Antigen after Carotid Artery Balloon Injury in Rats
Abstract：Objectlve To investigate the effect of Yiqihuoxue prescription on expression of proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) after carotid artery vascular injury in rats. Methods One hundred and eight rats were randomly divided into 6 groups:Sham operation group,model group,aspirin group, Yiqihuoxue prescription group(low dosage group, medium dosage group and high dosage group). All rats were fed with hypercholesterolemic diet for 30 days. The injury models were established by 2.0F balloon catheter through the right femoral artery into the left common carotid artery. The drugs were given before injury and at 5th day, 14th day and 28th day af-ter injury. The left common carotid arteries were carefully removed for HE staining and immunohistochernistry. The expression of PCNA was observed by immunohistochemical technique. Results The expression of PCNA at the 14th day and the 28th day after injury were obviously increased in model group. Compared with the model group,the expression of PCNA were reduced obviously in Yiqihuoxue prescription group(P<0.05). Conclusion Huoxueyiqi prescription with the function of supplementing Qi and promoting blood cir-culation could inhibit proliferation of intimal vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs) after balloon injury in rats,which was associated with downregulating the expression of PCNA.
