Effect of Zhixinkang Capsule on Cholesterol and Cholesteryl Ester in Foam Cells
Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of Zhixinkang(ZXK) on cholesterol and cholesteryl ester in vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)-derived foam cells. Methods The VSMCs were treated by ZXK and lovastatin. The expression of cholesterol and cholesteryl ester were measured by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). Results The espression of Cholesterol and cholesteryl ester in ZXK and Lovastatin groups were lower than that in isotonic na chloride group and the blank group(P<0.01). The ratio between cholesterol and cholesteryl ester in ZXK and lovastatin groups droped below 50%. Conclusion ZXK could decrease cho-lesterol and cholesteryl ester in VSMCs - derived foam cells. That could be one of mechanism to restrain the formation of VSMCs foam cell.
