Abstract:Studies have shown that depression,as a multifactorial psychiatric condition, has complex etiology and pathogenesis involving multiple biological processes such as genetics, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and substance transport and metabolism.Currently, the clinical diagnosis of depression primarily relies on phenotypic symptoms, with a lack of reliable diagnostic criteria and objective biological basis at the levels of imaging and biomolecules.Biomarkers, serving as physicochemical indicators of structural or functional changes in cells or tissues, hold significant potential for elucidating the mechanisms of depression, aiding in predictive diagnosis, and assessing treatment prognosis. In recent years, advancements in experimental technologies and bioinformatics have provided platforms and approaches for omics analysis to explore depression-related biomarkers across different dimensions. The integration of multi-omics data, through mutual validation and complementation, offers the possibility to systematically uncover the biological processes underlying depression. Therefore, this review aims to summarize recent research progress in the analysis of depression-related biomarkers using omics technologies.
