Precision forging of spur gear with axially move controllable die

Abstract：To improve the corner filling of spur gear forging , a method employing an axially move controllable die is proposed.In this method, the die is moved in axial direction while the billet is squeezed by the punch , which can be moved with the punch at the same speed , fixed on the base , moved with the punch at the pre-forming and fixed at the final-forming, or fixed at the pre-forming and moved with the punch at the final-form-ing.The FEM and experiment results show than:the die cavity corners are filled easily by the help of the fric-tional force between the billet-die interfaces with a controllable die .
