Distribution Characteristics of Thyroid Cancer Inpatients and Analysis of Pre-and Postoperative Indicators at a Hospital in Fujian Province
HE Jinglong
Abstract:Objective:To understand the distribution of thyroid cancer inpatients at a hospital in Fujian Province and analyze preoperative and postoperative serum-related indicators and their clinical significance.Method:Data and serological indicators of thyroid cancer inpatients at Putian University Affiliated Hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were collected.Serum levels of free triiodothyronine(FT3),free thyroxine(FT4),thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),and calcitonin(Ctn)were measured before and after surgery. The positive rates for thyroglobulin(Tg)and thyroid-related antibodies were statistically analyzed.Result:A total of 2,237 hospitalized thyroid cancer patients were enrolled, with a male-to-female ratio of 1∶4.34.The mean age was(49.1±12.0)years,and the proportion of hospitalized patients aged 50 years or older showed a year-on-year increasing trend.Postoperative levels of FT3,FT4,TSH,CEA,and Ctn were all lower than preoperative levels, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The serum Tg positivity rate was higher postoperatively than preoperatively, while the antithyroglobulin antibody(TGAb)positivity rate was lower postoperatively than preoperatively, with both differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the antithyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb)positivity rate between pre-and postoperative periods(P>0.05).Conclusion:Women and middle-aged and elderly individuals are key populations for thyroid cancer prevention.Thyroid-related hormones, antibodies, serum Ctn,and CEA hold significant clinical value for the diagnosis, treatment, and postoperative follow-up of thyroid cancer.
