Abstract:Objective:To investigate the current situation of pain catastrophization among patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion and analyze its correlation with family care and social support.Method:A total of 126 patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion in Guizhou Hospital of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital from May 2024 to May 2025 were selected as the research subjects.Questionnaire surveys were conducted using the Pain Catastrophizing Scale(PCS),the Family APGAR Index Questionnaire(APGAR),and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between pain catastrophization and family care degree as well as social support.Result:Among the 126 patients, the average total score of PCS was(30.48±3.16)points,among which 72 cases had a score of ≥ 30 points, and the incidence of pain catastrophization was 57.14%(72/126).The dimensions and total scores of APGAR and SSRS in the disaster group were all lower than those in the non-disaster group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that each dimension and total score of PCS in patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion were negatively correlated with the total score of APGAR(r<0,P<0.05),and negatively correlated with the total score of SSRS(r<0,P<0.05).Conclusion:The incidence of pain catastrophization in patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion is relatively high, and it is significantly negatively correlated with family care and social support. This suggests that clinical practice should attach importance to the family and social psychological support of patients, and reduce the perception of pain catastrophization by strengthening family functions and social support networks, thereby improving the prognosis of patients.
