Abstract:Objective:To investigate the correlation between the occurrence of sarcopenia and nutritional status in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.Method:A total of 120 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes from December 2023 to December 2024 were selected.According to the diagnostic criteria for sarcopenia from the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia(AWGS),patients were divided into a control group(n=60)and a sarcopenia group(n=60).Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the factors influencing sarcopenia and its relationship with nutritional status.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify independent risk factors for sarcopenia.Result:The sarcopenia group had significantly lower body mass index(BMI),skeletal muscle mass index(SMI),grip strength, and walking speed compared with the control group(P<0.05).Moreover,the duration of diabetes in the sarcopenia group was longer than in the control group(P<0.05),and fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and fall risk scores were significantly higher(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that longer duration of diabetes, low phase angle, and low serum albumin were independent risk factors for sarcopenia in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusion:The occurrence of sarcopenia in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes is closely related to nutritional status.Clinically, attention should be given to nutritional screening and intervention in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes to prevent and delay the onset of sarcopenia.
