The Effect of Yiqi Yangyin Decoction Combined with Western Medication in Treating Type 2 Diabetes Patients with Qi and Yin Deficiency

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the efficacy of Yiqi Yangyin decoction combined with Western medication in treating patients with type 2 diabetes characterized by both qi and yin deficiency.Method:A total of 100 patients with qi and yin deficiency-type type 2 diabetes who visited Shenmu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January to December 2024 were randomly assigned to a control group and an observation group using a random number table,with 50 patients in each group.The control group received conventional Western medicine(metformin),while the observation group received the same treatment supplemented with Yiqi Yangyin decoction.The glucose and lipid metabolism,pancreatic function,Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome scores,therapeutic efficacy,and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Result:There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of glucose and lipid metabolism,pancreatic function,and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores prior to treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,compared with the control group,the fasting blood glucose(FBG),2 hours postprandial glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),total cholesterol(TC),fasting insulin(FINS),homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),and TCM syndrome scores for fatigue,shortness of breath,and dry mouth and throat were lower in the observation group,while homeostasis model assessment of β-cell function(HOMA-β)levels were higher,and the treatment efficacy rate was higher,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The overall incidence rates of gastrointestinal reactions,rash,and vitamin B12 deficiency showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The combined use of Yiqi Yangyin decoction and Western medicine improves glucose and lipid metabolism,reduces insulin resistance,and alleviates symptoms in patients with qi and yin deficiency-type 2 diabetes.This approach demonstrates good efficacy and high safety.
