Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effects of glucocorticoids combined with conventional anti-infective therapy on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)complicated by pulmonary infection.Method:A total of 104 patients with COPD and pulmonary infection were selected and treated at the Jingzhou Third People's Hospital from February 2021 to February 2025.Using a random number table, they were divided into two groups. The control group(n=52)received conventional anti-infective therapy, while the observation group(n=52)additionally received glucocorticoid treatment. The blood gas parameters, serum inflammatory markers, pulmonary function, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Result:After treatment, the arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure,interleukin-8,tumor necrosis factor-α,and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in the observation group were lower than those in the control group. The first second forced breathing volume, forced lung capacity, arterial oxygen partial pressure, and first second forced breathing volume/forced lung capacity were higher than those in the control group, with statistical differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Combination therapy with glucocorticoids and routine anti-infective treatment improves blood gas parameters and pulmonary function in COPD patients with pulmonary infection. It effectively reduces systemic inflammatory responses without significantly increasing adverse reactions.
