Abstract:Objective:A comparative study was conducted to evaluate the clinical effects of azithromycin and doxycycline for MPP in children.Method:A total of 138 children with MPP admitted to Bao'an District Central Hospital of Shenzhen from December 2023 to December 2024 were selected and grouped by random number table method and given different drug treatments. They were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 69 cases in each group. The corresponding treatment drugs were azithromycin and doxycycline. The differences in effects between groups were compared in terms of clinical efficacy, time for improvement of clinical symptoms, pulmonary function indicators, levels of inflammatory factors, and adverse reactions.Result:Regarding the total clinical efficacy, the observation group was markedly superior to the control group(P<0.05).The observation group demonstrated a shorter duration of symptoms(cough, fever, wheezing, and lung moist rales)compared to the control group(P<0.05).The observation group demonstrated superior and statistically significant improvements in Forced Expiratory Volume in One Second(FEV1),Forced Vital Capacity(FVC),and Peak Expiratory Flow(PEF)compared to the control group(P<0.05).Following treatment, reductions in all measured indexes were noted in both groups.Notably, the observation group exhibited a more pronounced decrease in PCT,CRP,and IL-6 levels, and this difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The safety profile,in terms of adverse reaction incidence, was comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:After the epidemic, the severity and drug resistance of MPP have increased. It is necessary to optimize the selection of antibiotics. The efficacy of doxycycline in the treatment of MPP in children is better than that of azithromycin, and the safety is comparable.
