Abstract:Objective:To compare the postoperative efficacy of two single small incisions, namely the transverse wrist crease and the palm,in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.Method:The clinical data of 153 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome who were admitted to Sanmenxia Central Hospital and followed up from January 2021 to March 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups according to different surgical methods.Group A had 67 cases and was treated with palmural incision, while Group B had 86 cases and was treated with transverse carpal crease incision. The differences in perioperative indicators, clinical efficacy and complications were compared between the two groups.Result:The hospitalization time and postoperative recovery time to work in group A were both longer than those in group B,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the operation time, excellent and good treatment rates between A groups and B groups at 1 month and 3 months since the operation(P>0.05).One month after the operation, there were 8 cases(11.94%)of scar pain and scar discomfort in group A and 2 cases(2.33%)in group B.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The small incision of the transverse wrist crease and the small incision of the palm have comparable therapeutic effects in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. However, the group with the transverse wrist crease incision has a shorter hospital stay, fewer postoperative complications, and a faster recovery to work.
