Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in treating acute peripheral facial paralysis during the acute phase.Method:A total of 98 patients with acute peripheral facial paralysis treated in the Shanxi Acupuncture Hospital between January and December 2024 were enrolled. They were randomly assigned via a lottery method into two groups:the control group(49 cases)received conventional Western medicine therapy, and the study group(49 cases)received acupuncture treatment. The therapeutic outcomes, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, and quality of life(QoL)were compared between the two groups.Result:Compared with the control group, the study group demonstrated significantly higher treatment efficacy, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Post-treatment TCM syndrome scores in the study group showed a marked reduction compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Additionally,the study group exhibited notable improvements in all QoL domains relative to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture therapy for acute peripheral facial paralysis yields significant clinical benefits, effectively alleviating symptoms and enhancing patients'quality of life.Given its high efficacy, this approach is worthy of widespread adoption and clinical promotion.
