Abstract:Objective:To investigate the expression levels of serum interleukin-6(IL-6)and C-reactive protein(CRP)in children with acute bronchial asthma attacks and their relationship with disease severity.Method:120 children with acute bronchial asthma attacks who received treatment at Longyan People's Hospital in Fujian Province from June 2021 to June 2024 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into mild and moderate to severe groups according to the severity of their disease.Collect clinical data from two groups of children, detect the expression levels of serum IL-6 and CRP in the two groups of children, and compare them.Use multiple regression analysis to identify the influencing factors of disease severity in children with acute bronchial asthma attacks, and draw subjects'working characteristics(ROC)curves to evaluate the predictive value of serum IL-6 and CRP expression levels on disease severity in children with acute bronchial asthma attacks.Result:Among the 120 children with acute bronchial asthma attacks,48 cases had mild disease severity and 72 cases had moderate to severe disease severity. There were significant differences between the mild group and the moderate to severe group in terms of disease duration, family history of asthma,Asthma control test(ACT)score, and Serum immunoglobulin E(IgE)levels(P<0.05).The expression levels of serum IL-6 and CRP in the moderate to severe group were higher than those in the mild group, the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of multiple regression analysis showed that disease duration, serum IgE levels, serum IL-6 levels, and CRP levels were risk factors affecting the severity of acute bronchial asthma attacks in children, the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).The areas under the ROC curve for predicting the severity of acute bronchial asthma in children using serum IL-6 and CRP expression levels alone and in combination were 0.797[95%CI(0.718~0.876)],0.795[95%CI(0.717~0.873)],and 0887[95%CI(0.826~0.948)],respectively.Conclusion:The severity of acute bronchial asthma attacks in children is related to the expression levels of serum IL-6 and CRP,and the severity of the disease worsens with the increase of serum IL-6 and CRP expression levels. The combined detection of serum IL-6 and CRP expression levels has a high predictive value for the severity of acute bronchial asthma attacks in children.
