Abstract:Objective:To explore the operation timing of congenital entropion with trichiasis in children and the influence of operation timing on the stability of tear film and epithelial cells.Method:21 children(40 eyes)with congenital entropion and trichiasis in the hospital from May 2022 to February 2025 were retrospectively selected, and they were divided into young group(2~4 years old)with 10 cases(18 eyes),middle group(5~7 years old)with 5 cases(10 eyes)and high-age group(8~12 years old)with 6 cases(12 eyes). The curative effect, tear film stability(BUT,SIT),corneal injury(CFS)and dry eye score(OSDI)of the three groups were compared.Result:There was no significant difference between the three groups(P>0.05).One week after the operation,BUT increased,SIT remained unchanged,CFS decreased. The CFS of the middle-aged and elderly groups was lower than that of the young group. The BUT in the middle-aged and elderly groups was higher than that in the young group(P<0.05).The ODSI score was lower than that before operation 1 months after operation(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the three ODSI groups after 1 month operations(P>0.05).Conclusion:The timing of surgery for congenital entropion with trichiasis in children has significant effect on the stability of tear film and epithelial cells. The middle-aged group and the older group have better surgical effect, tear film stability and corneal injury repair effect. So it is recommended to choose this age group for surgery first.
