Abstract:Objective:To explore the effects of continuous care and follow-up empowerment education during chemotherapy for colorectal cancer patients.Method:A total of 102 patients with colorectal cancer treated at Suzhou Xiangcheng People's Hospital from January to December 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.Using stratified random sampling, patients were assigned to either the control group(n=51),which received routine continuous nursing,or the experimental group(n=51),which additionally received follow-up empowerment education.Outcome measures included gastrointestinal function[Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale(GSRS)],fatigue[Chinese Revised Piper Fatigue Scale(RPFS)],hope level[Herth Hope Index(HHI)],and quality of life[European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC)]were compared.Result:After 3 months of intervention, the experimental group showed significantly lower GSRS and RPFS scores, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).HHI and EORTC scores were higher compared with the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:Combining continuous nursing with follow-up empowerment education can effectively improve gastrointestinal function, alleviate fatigue, enhance hope levels, and improve quality of life in colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This approach may serve as a valuable nursing model in clinical practice.
