Abstract:Objective:To explore the effects of combining proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques with manual lymphatic drainage on functional outcomes in patients with shoulder-hand syndrome following stroke.Method:40 stroke patients with concomitant shoulder-hand syndrome admitted to Shanxi Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected. The 40 patients were randomly assigned to two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group, each of which consists of 20 patients, through a random number table method. Both groups received conventional comprehensive rehabilitation therapy and manual lymphatic drainage. In addition, the experimental group received proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques.Treatment efficacy, passive range of motion in the shoulder joint, pain levels, and improvements in activities of daily living(ADL)were compared between the two groups.Result:Before treatment, the observation indicators between the two groups showed no statistically significant differences(P>0.05).After treatment, the total effective rate the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).After treatment, pain levels decreased in both groups compared to pre-treatment levels, with the experimental group showing a more significant reduction compared to the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Both groups showed increased passive range of motion in the shoulder joint and improved ADL scores, and the experimental group showed a greater degree of increase compared with the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques and manual lymphatic drainage demonstrates clinical significance in treating patients with post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome. This approach alleviates pain, enhances joint mobility and functional abilities, and improves patients'overall activity capacity to a certain extent.
