Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of combination therapy of levofloxacin and cefazolin sodium on elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia(CAP).Method:80 elderly patients with CAP admitted to Fujian Fu'an Hospital from December 2020 to December 2023 were assigned to two groups(40 cases each)with random numerical table. Both groups received basic symptomatic treatment, the patients of control group were administrated cefazolin sodium, and on this basis, the patients of observation group additionally took levofloxacin.2 weeks of treatment were performed on both groups. The comparisons were performed on clinical efficacy, pneumonia severity index(PSI)score, serum inflammatory factors, blood gas indicators, lung function, and adverse reactions in both groups.Result:The observation group obtained higher overall effective rate than the control group(P<0.05).The observation group had lower PSI score,C-reactive protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin-6(IL-6)and partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PCO2)than the control group after treatment. The observation group demonstrated higher partial pressure of oxygen(PO2),forced vital capacity(FVC),peak expiratory flow rate(PEF),and forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)(P<0.05).The comparisons of adverse reactions in both groups expressed no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusion:The combination therapy of levofloxacin and cefazolin sodium in elderly patients with CAP can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms and inflammatory reactions, regulate blood gas indicators, and improve lung function, which is safe and reliable.
