Diagnostic Value of Hs-CRP and SAA in Pediatric Respiratory Infections
CHEN Guobin
Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)and serum amyloid A(SAA)in bacterial and viral respiratory infections in children.Method:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 91 pediatric patients with respiratory infections admitted to Xiamen Tong'an District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2022 to April 2024.Based on pathogen type, the patients were divided into the bacterial group(bacterial respiratory infections,n=41)and the viral group(viral respiratory infections,n=50).Additionally,30 healthy children served as the control group. The levels of hs-CRP and SAA were compared among the three groups. The sensitivity, specificity, and clinical value of these markers in diagnosing respiratory infections were analyzed.Result:The levels of hs-CRP and SAA in the bacterial group were significantly higher than in the viral group and control group. The levels of hs-CRP and SAA in the viral group were also higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The abnormal rates of hs-CRP and SAA in the bacterial and viral groups were higher than in the control group. The bacterial group had a higher abnormal rate of hs-CRP than the viral group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The combined detection of hs-CRP and SAA showed sensitivities of 92.7%and 98.0%,and specificities of 96.7%and 83.3%in distinguishing bacterial and viral respiratory infections, respectively. The combined detection of hs-CRP and SAA had higher diagnostic accuracy in the bacterial group compared to the viral group, with SAA alone outperforming hs-CRP(P<0.05).Conclusion:Hs-CRP and SAA,as acute-phase reactants, have high sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of bacterial and viral respiratory infections in children. The combined detection of hs-CRP and SAA can effectively differentiate between bacterial and viral respiratory infections and holds significant clinical value. It provides a strong auxiliary basis for the early diagnosis and treatment of respiratory infections.
