Investigating the Impact of Combined Treatment with Tongqiao Biyan Tablets and Montelukast on Inflammatory Factor Levels in Patients with Allergic Rhinitis

Abstract：Objective:This study aimed to explore the effects of combining Tongqiao Bi yan Tablets with Montelukast on the inflammatory cytokine levels in patients with Allergic Rhinitis(AR).Method:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 265 AR patients treated at Yidu People's Hospital from August 2023 to October 2024.The patients were divided into two groups based on treatment regimens:the control group(n=112),who received Montelukast,and the observation group(n=153),who were treated with Montelukast in combination with Tongqiao Bi Yan Tablets.The efficacy of treatment,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptom scores,serum cytokine levels,and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Result:The observation group demonstrated a significantly higher treatment efficacy rate(P<0.05).After treatment,the observation group exhibited lower scores for nasal congestion,pruritus,sneezing,and ocular pruritus(P<0.05).Furthermore,the observation group had significantly higher levels of Interleukin-10 and Interferon-gamma,as well as lower levels of Interleukin-5 and Immunoglobulin E(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups was not significantly different(P>0.05).Conclusion:The addition of Tongqiao Bi yan Tablets to Montelukast treatment for AR patients can enhance therapeutic efficacy,alleviate the severity of symptoms such as nasal congestion,and offer a high safety profile.
