The Efficacy of Combining Diphenylphosphine Sodium Eye Drops with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drops Following Pterygium Excision Combined with Corneal Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of combining dequafosil sodium eye drops with sodium hyaluronate eye drops in patients undergoing pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation.Method:A total of 85 patients(85 eyes)who underwent combined pterygium excision and limbal stem cell transplantation at the Songzi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital between February 2023 and February 2024 were selected as study subjects.Patients were randomly assigned using a coin toss method into a control group(n=42,42 eyes,receiving conventional treatment and sodium hyaluronate eye drops during surgery)and an observation group(n=43,43 eyes,additionally receiving dexamethasone sodium eye drops).Dry eye symptoms,tear gland secretion(SIt),tear film breakup time(BUT),and tear inflammatory factor levels were compared between the two groups at baseline,2 weeks postoperatively,and 4 weeks postoperatively.Result:The ocular surface disease index(OSDI)scores,interleukin(IL)-6,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α in both groups decreased at 2 weeks and 4 weeks post-surgery.The control group was higher than the observation group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in SIt before surgery at baseline,2 weeks,and 4 weeks post-surgery(P>0.05);at 2 weeks post-surgery,both groups showed a decrease in BUT,and at 4 weeks post-surgery,BUT in both groups increased compared to 2 weeks post-surgery,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The use of dacryphostone sodium eye drops and sodium hyaluronate eye drops in patients following pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation effectively reduces inflammatory factor levels in tears,improves postoperative dry eye symptoms,enhances tear film stability,and demonstrates high safety.
