Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of the combination of Southern Shaolin Exercise Method and massage in the treatment of temporomandibular joint disorder(TMD).Method:A total of 62 patients with TMD admitted to Quanzhou Orthopedic Hospital from February 2024 to September 2024 were selected as the study objectsand divided into the massage group(n=31,treated with massage)and the Nan Gong combined massage group(n=31,treated with Nan Shaolin Gong method combined with massage)according to the random number table method. The intervention period was 2 weeks. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. The Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),maximum mouth opening degree(MMO),Fricton temporomandibular joint disorder index before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. The recurrence rates of the two groups were statistically analyzed.Result:The total effective rate of the Nan Gong combined with massage group was higher than that of the massage group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment in both groups, the VAS scores, joint dysfunction index(DI),mandibular joint disorder index(CMI),and masticatory muscle palpation index(PI)were all lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).All Mmos were increased compared with those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The VAS score,DI,CMI and PI of the Nangong combined massage group were all lower than those of the massage group, while MMO was higher than that of the massage group. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the Nangong combined massage group was lower than that of the massage group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of Southern Shaolin Exercise Method and massage in the treatment of TMD has a definite therapeutic effect. It can relieve pain, restore joint position, enhance the strength of key muscles, improve joint stability, and reduce the recurrence rate.
