Abstract:Objective:To explore and analyze the application of ultrasound and chest X-ray positioning technology in the precise measurement of peripherally inserted central catheters(PICC)in critically ill neonates.Method:A total of 80 critically ill neonates, who received PICC insertion at Affiliated Hospitalof Zunyi Medical University from February 2023 to January 2024,were selected as study subjects. These subjects were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table:the control group and the experimental group. The control group used the traditional external measurement method to determine PICC length, while the experimental group used ultrasound and chest X-ray positioning technology. Both groups monitored the position of the catheter tip during insertion using intracardiac electrocardiography(IC-ECG)technology.The accuracy of the two methods was compared,as well as the differences in related outcomes between the groups.Result:There was no significant difference between the two methods in terms of the clarity of the catheter tip, superior vena cava-right atrial junction, inferior vena cava-right atrial junction, and the measurement of tip-to-right atrium distance(P>0.05).Spearman correlation testing indicated a strong correlation between the two methods(P<0.05).However,the ultrasound localization demonstrated lower data dispersion, reduced catheter length measurement errors, and shorter operation time, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:The use of ultrasound and chest X-ray positioning technology combined with IC-ECG localization during PICC insertion in critically ill neonates provides greater precision. This method results in lower catheter length errors and shorter operation times.
