Clinical Effectiveness of the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation by Combining Filiform Fire Needle with Taohong Siwu Decoction

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the clinical effectiveness clinical effectiveness of the treatment of lumbar intervertebral discherniation by combining filiform fire needle with Taohong Siwu Decoction.Method:A total of 100 patients diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation in Pain Microneedling Department of Quanzhou Orthopedic Hospital from August 2023 to August 2024 were enrolled.The patients were random divided into control group and experimental group,with 50 patients in each group.The control group received Taohong Siwu Decoction alone,whereas the experimental group underwent filiform fire needle treatment on the basis of the control group.The functional recovery[Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)scores,Oswestry disability index(ODI)score],therapeutic effect(total treatment response rate,traditional Chinese medicine symptom score),pain relief[visual analogue scale(VAS)score]and serum index[interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]of the two groups were compared.Result:After 2 weeks of treatment,JOA scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment,and the experimental group was higher than the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 2 weeks of treatment,ODI score,traditional Chinese medicine symptom score and VAS score of both groups were lower than those before treatment,and ODI score,traditional Chinese medicine symptom score and VAS score of experimental group were lower than those of control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of experimental group was higher than that of control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 2 weeks of treatment,serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the two groups were decreased,and the levels in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Filiform fire needle combined with Taohong Siwu Decoction can effectively treat lumbar disc herniation,promote functional recovery,relieve pain and reduce serum IL-6 and TNF-α levels.
