Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of supraclavicular nerve protection on fracture healing and shoulder joint function in patients undergoing open reduction and fixation of clavicle fractures.Method:A total of 80 patients who underwent clavicle fracture surgery in Beijing Fengtai You'anmen Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected and they were divided into observation group(n=36)and control group(n=44)based on the treatment of the supraclavicular nerve during clavicle open reduction and fixation surgery. The control group received treatment by disconnecting the supraclavicular nerve method, while the observation group received treatment by protecting the supraclavicular nerve method. The shoulder joint function[Constant-Murley scale(CMS)score],pain[visual analogue scale(VAS)score],area of postoperative skin sensory disturbance, length of fracture healing and incidence of skin numbness were compared between the two groups.Result:Three months after surgery,CMS scores in both groups were higher than those before surgery, and CMS scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).VAS scores 1 d and 3 d after surgery were significantly lower than those before surgery, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The fracture healing time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months and 6 months, the area of skin sensory disturbance in the observation group was smaller than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of skin numbness in observation group after 6 months was lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Protection of supraclavicular nerve during open reduction fixation for clavicular fractures can help improve shoulder function and promote fracture healing.
